missin’ Iceland…

you are time and water… – Matthías Johannessen(Icelandic poet)

the poet’s death flows inside you,
his voice is distant and sweet
like the whisper of the ocean among the brown seaweeds,
like his existence running into your darkness…
whenever conscience breaks free from time and water,
it turns into a bright life ring – painted in red,
worn-out after one uncertain night…

  1. Ah, such a beautiful and peaceful place! ❤️

  2. Beautiful pictures all round Melanie. I do like the diversity of the scenery, the house is great, stone wall at one end and a roof of greenery, makes me think the green roof is used as insulation against the cold. Ian

    • yes, indeed: those roofs are made of peat – natural and local insulation, popular and common in Iceland – glaciers’ realm… 🙂

Bon mardi, gros bisous, Gigi 🙂

  4. Beautiful photos, especially the waterfalls!

  5. These photos are amazing!

  6. Thank you for touring Iceland!

  7. Outstanding photography and outstanding poem! I was just swept away by the sheer magnitude of beauty I found here. Thank you, Melanie. Bless you! Love, Amy

  8. Des photos magnifiques Mélanie! Que c’est BEAU! Agréable soirée!

  9. Merveilleuse Islande… 🙂 Bonne soirée Mélanie.

Prati verdi e mare grigio azzuro.

  11. Frustrating that I cannot see you slides how on my iPad. I need to wait until I can get to a desktop! 😦

  12. Splendid photos, Melanie. Have never been to Iceland but have recently had my interest sparked in the Icelandic sagas, especially the Laxdaela saga which is currently sitting on my computer desktop waiting to be properly read. Perhaps I’ll get to it after this resonant prompt.

  13. Seems as though another trip to Iceland is needed! 🙂

    • I’ve been there twice and I do hope there’ll be a 3rd time asap: I often miss it… in French we say: jamais 2 sans 3! = never 2 without 3! 🙂

  14. Superbes images.

  15. da, Mélanie:”you are time and water” and me…
