from my US-inbox: afternoon smile…:-)

Hi Mélanie! You live in Toulouse(to lose!), but you’re a winner, right?!… 🙂 Hey gal, how’s the price of gasoline in France, still goin’ up?… well, here’s the story: 🙂

A thief in Paris planned to steal some paintings from the famous LOUVRE museum. After careful planning, he got past security, stole the paintings and made it safely to his van. However, he was captured only two blocks away when his van ran out of gas. When asked how he could mastermind such a crime and then make such an obvious and stupid error, he replied:”Monsieur, that is the reason I stole the  paintings… I had no MONET to buy DEGAS and to make the VAN GOGH.

P.S. Mélanie, please see if you have DE GAULLE to forward this on to someone else. I’ve sent it to you because I figured I had nothing TOULOUSELautrec, but to win your afternoon smile… 🙂 One more by Degas:”At 12, a woman emerges and shows up, at 15, she sketches herself, at 18, she paints herself, at 20 she displays and exhibits herself… But regardless her age, she’s never a still life.” 🙂

N.B. Lautrec is a very pittoresque village, listed among “The Most Beautiful Villages of France”, situated in the Tarn département(county), about 65km-away from Toulouse and renowed for its “ail rose” – pink garlic! 🙂 Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec’s family had some roots in this village. Last but not least: Toulouse – la ville rose(brique) is the European capital of space & aviation.

  2. Absolument magnifique cette histoire! 😆

  3. Words and names can be fun to play with. Thank you for the smile! I’ve spent a stressful morning back and forth between the banque and the computer! The screaming you hear c’est moi! 😉

  4. Ha, ha, ha…! Very funny joke!

  5. Some good laughs there.

  7. She is so witty, that one! 🙂

  8. Very clever indeed!!! Thanks for the smile… I needed one! ❤
