Voici que la saison décline… – Victor Hugo

Voici que la saison décline,
L’ombre grandit, l’azur décroît.
Le vent fraîchit sur la colline,
L’oiseau frissonne, l’herbe a froid.
Août contre Septembre lutte,
L’océan n’a plus d’alcyon,
Chaque jour perd une minute,
Chaque aurore pleure un rayon.
La mouche comme prise au piège,
Est immobile à mon plafond;
Et comme un blanc flocon de neige
Petit à petit, l’été se fond…

motto:”To live happy, let’s live hidden.”(Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian)

after the hot summer here’s September with its colorful easel – month of tenderness and peaceful moments when lovers harvest the joy they’ve sown last spring… by the end of August, I’ve engraved love words and stars upon your shoulders and your silvery forehead – they’ll keep you warm while I’m away… magical images of intense happiness whose fragrance invades me – frail, elegant and graceful silhouettes, their petals are welded by genuine feelings and long-lasting complicity – colour symphony of self-knowledge… summer’s melody is dancing with my thoughts… 🙂

at dawn, I’d like to walk barefoot and carefully over the grass to avoid crushing your shadow… I’d keep my eyes closed to feel the first sun beams and I’d smile to you among the flowers still alive… I picture life as piano keys that let themselves cuddled by our hands, while notes waltz upon my temples with a playful tune, my emotions slowly heading for a crystal clear ambiance… the warmth of your amber eyes has made me grow Arctic tern wings to fly off to the realm of silence where it rains with surprises, desires, random and timeless gestures… I catch sight of unknown, hectic and rebel passions showing up beyond our horizon… 🙂

September… – John Updike

The breezes taste
Of apple peel.
The air is full
Of smells to feel –
Ripe fruit, old footballs,
Burning brush,
New books, erasers,
Chalk, and such.
The bee, his hive,
Well-honeyed hum,
And Mother cuts
Chrysanthemums.
Like plates washed clean
With suds, the days
Are polished with
A morning haze…

  1. A grand picture into fall’s entrance. 🙂

  2. Our Summer started so late, Melanie, that seeing our trees’ leaves turn color already is not a pleasant sight. Even so, this is a beautiful time of the year.

    • yep, I do recall your short summer… I’ve always liked Fall, kinda “Indian summer” here like in North America… have a splendid and delicious September, Gianni! 🙂

  8. When I lived in California I always felt I missed out on seasons as our climate was so neutral. Now that is even more so the case living in Florida. When I do get to areas with fall foliage I am especially thankful for their beauty. Great picture of you as well… beauty in another form… and did one of those pictures show honeysuckle? For a moment it brought me back to my childhood when we would taste the bit of nectar from the flower, thinking we had just struck gold.

    • I’ve always liked Fall and I think its colors are gorgeous! 🙂 yes, it’s honeysuckle(in French: chèvrefeuille = goat’s leaf!) – quite common and popular here, I love its fragrance in “eau-de-toilette” and gel-douche… last but not least: as a kid, I would taste its nectar, too! 🙂

thanx a bunch of “chèvrefeuille”, dear Rammy Gal! ❤ 🙂

  9. Beautiful autumn picture gallery, Mélanie. Love the Updike poem. 🙂

  10. lovely post.(i now see the English translation. don’t know why i didn’t see it b4. sorry)

  11. Gosh, it’s ages since I walked bare foot in the grass. Summer is coming. I must remember to do just that. Beautiful poems but Victor Hugo’s is particularly appealing to me.

    • I often do it during summer time… as an earthly sign, I like to feel the ground underneath my soles… seems to be quite healthy, so go, Lady Rammy, go! 🙂 @ Victor Hugo – same here, Gallivanta dear! 🙂

  12. Iubesc si urasc, in acelasi timp, luna septembrie.

🙂 thanx, my very best and have a great week! hugs back… ❤

  13. Ah, but September comes too quickly.

  15. Such evocative, beautiful images and desires shaped into words, Melanie!

  18. I’ll go to the supermarket in a few minutes… those pics of grapes make me want to buy a ton.
