Gozo – Calypso’s island of joy…:-)

eternal azure window, natural arch and salt flower over golden honey limestone… Gozo has often been associated with Ogygia, the realm of the nymph Calypso in Homer’s Odyssey; she had tremendous supernatural powers, and in love with Odysseus, she held him captive for several years, until she finally released him to continue his journey home… but I strongly believe that Ulysses never rejoined his Penelope, as he crazily fell in love with Calypso, bewitched by the queen nymph to life… 😉

Gozo means ‘joy’ in Castilian, but its Maltese name comes from the Phoenician ‘Għawdex’ and visiting it did bring joy to us… 🙂 Gozo is smaller than Malta, with a different way of life, known for its rural ‘character’, its charm, its serenity – between relaxing strolls and beautiful beaches… last but not least: even Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have just spent their honeymoon on Gozo! 🙂

Buna, Melanie!

  6. Looks like a perfect get-away! All the places you travel to. 🙂

A+! Hervé

  8. Mult soare, asta e pe gustul meu, M. 🙂

    • stiu… 🙂
