Firgas – water town, nicknamed “the balcony of the Atlantic” for its wonderful view of the northern coast of the Gran Canaria island… 🙂

I look at the stairway that goes up and down with waterfall memories… I walk behind a folded shadow heading for the beach, where the waves bang the sand… I can hear the cry and the laughter of the blackhead gulls – fleeting echoes of this Atlantic coast, awaiting the return of the evening tides… the wind cuddles the clouds and scatters the rock pebbles, while the foam dances gracefully before its metamorphosis into salt flower and balm of the soul… our eyelids close beyond our dream, night will wrap us around a lost horizon among the shreds of the universe… we’ll drift away with the archipelago, far from the continents, to a new shore with no seasons where stars suddenly turn into “supernovae” lit-up by words of love… their light multiplies our image and here’s that “teetering balcony”, still standing on the front line, having its last word – here and now, tomorrow and all the days after… 🙂

  1. Lovely photos, Mélanie. Our ship made a brief stop at Gran Canaria on our way from England to South Africa in 1970. 🙂

  2. love your words “I look at the stairway” and then those photos – oh they are beautiful. 🙂

  3. Thank you Mélanie for this beautiful tour to this heavenly island! Regards 🙂

  4. Ancora splendide immagini dalle Canarie. Belle e spettacolari.

  6. You have such a powerful visual imagination. I feel all your descriptive words and can sense them in your words. Made me wish I was there in more than my imagination. yisraela

  8. Tan bellos azulejos y un cielo tan Azul. I’d love to go too to that shore with eternal time. Merci Mélanie 🙂

  9. Amazing tile benches! Great photos, Melanie!

  10. I recently went through some old albums trying to straighten up things… and so many memories appear. That very instant of life even from years ago comes back for a few seconds. Then it is gone. But it was so lovely to remember. 🙂

    • I do believe you, EE… I’m lucky to have a keen visual memory and quite selective, too.. 🙂 in fact, time has always been relative, equal to itself, so we pass with it and not vice-versa… so: memento mori, carpe diem et gaudeamus igitur, here and now! 🙂

  12. Gran Canaria te face intr-adevar sa visezi…
