“Crocus flowers in the meadows… it’s the end of summertime…” 🙂

Pyrenean autumn crocus flowers – pretty and lonesome, shy and delicate jewels of our beloved mountains… the first snow will protect their heart – precious saffron – until next year, when they come back to us with snowdrops… they emerge bravely, they smile at the sun that cuddles them with gentle whispers… their ‘lilac’ or ‘lavender’ petals have timeless beauty and classy elegance – between shadows and lights of this ‘Indian summer’, they are pure joy of the youthful spirit… 🙂

P.S.”Colchiques in the meadows”(its original title is “Autumn”) – a French popular song of the 20th century, written by Jacqueline and Francine Cockenpot Debatte in the early 40’s. They were ‘scout leaders’, and they composed it for the youth camps.

  9. Adorable Crocus… the heralds of spring, the bearers of saffron tiny jewels to be celebrated and nurtured. By January I will be aching to see them again!

  11. Neither my autumn crocus, nor my spring crocus appeared this year. 😦 But other bulbs which haven’t flowered in years appeared this spring, so I am content.
