last Icelandic sunset between Heimaey, Westman Islands & Iceland… ❤

do pour me an Icelandic dusk in the cup of my life, so that I can drink it up – anywhere, anytime, anyhow! 🙂 I’ve always loved sunsets – even though they mean “endings”, however, some of them will constantly live in my heart… I’ve seen a few over the craggy rocks, beneath that pale blue sky… on my right side, a hasty waterfall, cascading golden champagne, destined to remain untouched… on my left side, black sand beaches, stretching out to the wide landscape, where life seems sparce… and yet, such a graceful beauty in scarlet-crimson hues, like royal stars that shimmer this evening…

I gaze down the Arctic waves ahead, while a flaming late sun has displayed its twilight into a wondrous show… I shyly watch it, it’s like a heartfelt call, and I know I’m not alone tonight… the wind sweeps the surface of the water, volcanoes shake before darkness and cling to the stream… the lonesome ocean ignores both time and space, but it recognizes me, speaks to me, cuddles me and invades my heart… I dive into its summer dreams, its music, and its sacred light which tames our constellations and prevails over the entire universe…

  1. Your pictures are beautifully synchronised with your descriptive words Melanie, you bring the imagery to life for me, Iceland is a world of its own in history and culture.

  2. Love your prose poetry… lovelier and lovelier.

    • mille merci-thanx, Eileen! btw, if you’re interested in my “prose poétique” and have some spare time, surf through my archives, please… 🙂
