‘Life is best when you build bridges between people, not walls…'(Billy Crystal)

building a wall means metaphorically isolating ourselves, as it stops people from seeing each other, or connecting with one another which inevitably leads to distance… on the other hand, building a bridge means figuring out a way for people to meet… we do our best to overcome an obstacle that may arise between us and another person – therefore, we’ve conceived or found out a solution… these 2 metaphors refer to methods of dealing with problems(or conflicts) in life… one possible choice to deal with conflict(s) is ‘to wall’ ourselves off from the problem – in other words, to set up a barrier that makes it impossible for others to reach us… another choice to solve or to deal with a problem is to find a solution that allows people to get past the conflict… that’s what building a bridge is about: if we build a bridge, we’ll already have a common ground, and we won’t let any conflict(or problem) separate us… agree? 🙂

  6. If only it was that simple, Melanie, too many people in this world want to put up barriers! 😦 Lovely photographs.

  7. Yes, yes, yes, Melanie. Bridges not walls between us. So well said in these times when those seeking power want only to tell stories that divide us.
