Sometimes my thoughts are as free as a quetzal, flying to the light, even though dawn or twilight get dark… The Costa Rican quetzal is a majestic and legendary bird, probably one of the most beautiful in the world. Its name comes from the Mayan word “quetzal” which means “bird”. It can’t live in captivity, and if ever captured, it lets itself die of hunger and thirst. Costa Rica does not have a culturally entrenched Mayan heritage, but running into a quetzal is a sign of good luck, while killing or wounding one, yet unintentionally, may bring over bad luck! Well, I guess I’ve been lucky… 🙂

  1. Bonsoir Mélanie,
Si c’est toi qui as pris la photo, alors tu as été vraiment veinarde! Bonne semaine, Mo

  2. Magnificent colouring for the bird, Melanie. I hope Porto Rico is doing better after the hurricane. It did not sound good about there.
