San Sebastian de la “isla colombina”…:-)

Colorée et pittoresque, San Sebastian de la Gomera est la “capitale” de l’île – la ville principale et le port le plus important; sa baie et la Plaza de las Americas sont célèbres depuis que Christophe Colomb s’y est arrêté 3 fois afin d’approvisionner sa flotte en nourriture et en eau potable pour ses expéditions historiques. D’ailleurs, il aura été le patron “non officiel” de l’île pendant des siècles, car “la fiesta colombina” se tient chaque année, le 6 septembre et commémore son premier voyage. D’où, un autre surnom de la Gomera – “isla colombina”… 🙂

Colorful and quaint San Sebastian de la Gomera is the island’s ‘capital’ – the main city and most important harbor; its bay and Plaza de las Americas have been famous since Christopher Columbus stopped over 3 times to provide his fleet with food and fresh water for his historic expeditions. He’s been the ‘unofficial patron’ of the island for centuries, as ‘la fiesta colombina’ is held on September 6th, each year, and it commemorates his first voyage. Hence, another nickname of la Gomera is ‘isla colombina’… 🙂
