Garajonay National Park – Ecological Treasure of Biodiversity… In the center of la Gomera Canary island, whose highest peak rises to 1490m, there’s a dense forest,  perpetually green, called ‘Laurisilva‘; it has reminded me of the Yakushima Island(southern Japan), BUT the temperature has ‘swayed’ between 7-12°C this past week, while we had 25-26°C @ Yakushima! This laurel forest has survived since the Tertiary era; it has a wide variety of trees and plants that grow thanks to the almost permanent humidity, caused by thick mist and steady temperatures all year around. The Canary island’s “Monteverde” is a genuine relic, several millions years-old, yet the climate change has never affected it, given its ocean isolation. The park has been world’s heritage site for 32 years.

  3. Fiecare insulă e o altă versiune a pământului.
