Espelette – étape pittoresque et gourmande du Tour de France…:-)

Espelette – village charmant, situé au pied des Pyrénées Atlantiques, à environ 20′ de Biarritz; bien-connu pour ses poivrons rouges séchés, utilisés entiers ou moulus dans la préparation du jambon de Bayonne; ces piments sont suspendus à l’extérieur de nombreuses maisons et boutiques pendant l’été – incontournable si vous êtes au Pays Basque… 🙂

Espelette is a quaint, typical village situated at the foot of the Atlantic Pyrénées, about 20′-drive from Biarritz; well-known for its dried red peppers, used whole or ground to a hot powder in the production of the famous Bayonne dry ham; these peppers are hung to dry outside many of the houses and shops during the summer, a must-visit spot – if you are in the French Basque country(region)… 🙂
