strolling around with Señor Allen…:-)

“Oviedo is like a fairytale: a delicious, exotic, beautiful, clean, lovely, tranquil and pedestrianized city; it’s like it doesn’t belong to this world, as if it did not exist.”(Woody Allen) – yes, indeed!

This is Oviedo – Uviéu(in Asturian) – the capital city of the Principality of Asturias, northern Spain – the administrative and commercial centre of the region, a quaint and pleasant spot to visit; it’s one of Spain’s historic gems, with several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and… also famous all over the Iberian peninsula as “the capital of Spanish cider” – salud! cheers!

A life-size statue of Woody Allen was set on Calle de Pelayo in 2005, inaugurated after the American movie director dedicated compliments to the city of Oviedo upon receiving the “Premio Príncipe de Asturias de las Artes”; in 2005, he came to Spain and reached an agreement to film “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” with Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Scarlett Johansson in 3 Spanish cities: Avilés, Barcelona and Oviedo.

Have a peaceful Sunday and a hopeful week ahead; stay healthy and safe, guys!

  2. Oh, abbracciata a Woody! Che onore!😚

  3. Cheers to you. I wish I could share some of that Spanish cider with you. Have a great week!

  4. We loved Oviedo very much – except the climate. We lived there for 6 months after coming back from one year in the Himalayas. It was ideal to recover from all this climbing and hiking. Thanks for sharing!
